The Council has agreed an initiative to install CCTV cameras in the Parish to support the prevention, investigation and detection of crime, the apprehension and prosecution of offenders, the maintenance of public order and the reduction of vandalism. 

Phase 1 of the project involved the installation of CCTV on the Village Green in Copthorne and outside the shops on Station Road in Crawley Down.

Phase 2, is now underway in Copthorne, with CCTV having been installed at Copthorne Recreation Ground on Copthorne Bank.  Phase 2 of the project for Crawley Down will get underway shortly.  Both Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the project have been mostly funded by Section 106 monies (develop contributions to support local infrastructure in the area), as well as some Council earmarked reserves.

A Data Protection Monitoring Agreement is in place with Sussex Police, who operates and accesses each of these CCTV cameras on our behalf as part of the Sussex Public Facing CCTV Partnership.
