The Council has agreed an initiative to install CCTV cameras
in the Parish to support the prevention, investigation and detection of crime,
the apprehension and prosecution of offenders, the maintenance of public order
and the reduction of vandalism.
It is intended cameras will be installed at two locations in the first instance, one in Copthorne and one in Crawley Down.
In Copthorne, the camera will be located on the Village Green,
with installation taking place on 14th and 15th May
2025.
In Crawley Down, there will be cameras in front of the Memorial Car Park in Station Road. We are currently liaising with our Preferred Supplier to confirm the installation date, which is expected shortly.
CCTV signs will be installed around each village at the time the cameras are being installed and are going live.
The cameras will be monitored by Sussex Police. We are therefore liaising with Sussex Police and our Preferred Supplier to ensure any necessary servicing and monitoring agreements, and signage will be in place for when installation is completed.
A new CCTV Policy and Frequently Asked Questions have now been published to help answer any questions you may have (see links below).
