Chef on the Farm

Worth Parish Council are excited to be working with Table Talk Foundation to bring this amazing opportunity to young people in the Parish.

We have secured 30 spaces on the Chef on the Farm course on Friday 28 July at the new Agrifood Centre at Plumpton College. This course is for 13-16 year olds and will run from 10-2pm. We will provide transport which will collect young people from Crawley Down and Copthorne at approximately 9am/3pm (times to be confirmed on booking).

Young people will get the opportunity to:

  • work with a professional chef and a farm educator.
  • explore the working farm and dairy.
  • learn where food comes from and how food is produced.
  • learn the importance of a healthy diet.
  • practice cooking skills in a fully equipped kitchen.
  • make lunch for themselves on the day.
There is a cost of £5 per person. To find out more and request a booking form please email enquiries@worth-pc.gov.uk

Copthorne Youth Club

Copthorne Youth Club started on Monday 20 February and we have received some great feedback.

"A much needed club for the kids"

"My son has just gone back from this afternoon’s earlier session. He had a great time. Thank you Worth Parish Council"

Children from both villages can attend both Youth Clubs. So if you live in Crawley Down, your children are more than welcome to come along to the Copthorne Youth Club.

It will be running Monday and Wednesday evenings at The Copthorne Jubilee Pavilion, Copthorne Bank RH10 3JF. It will be open from 4-6pm for 10 to 13 year olds and again from 6.30 - 8.30pm for 14 to 16 year olds.

We are looking for volunteers to help out at our Youth Club. If you could spare some time to help keep our Youth Club running, please contact our Youth Worker in Charge, Drew at member.services@sussexcyp.org.uk

Health and Nutrition Classes

During the February half term we offered young people in Copthorne and Crawley Down the chance to come along to a free cookery class. These Quesadilla Cookery Classes were aimed at 9-14 year olds and were a huge success.

Nearly 40 children came along and prepared, cooked and ate their own quesadilla.

"My daughter and her friend absolutely loved it. It was so nice to have something different for children of her age (13) to do over the holidays. A fantastic idea and I really hope that you do more things like this again in the future. Thanks ever so much to everyone involved with organising and who were there on the day."

We plan to run more classes in the school holidays so do keep a look out for more details by following us on Facebook.
