New Notice Boards in Crawley Down
Published: 25 October 2024
Worth Parish Council is delighted to announce the official opening of the new notice boards in Crawley Down. Located outside the shops in the heart of the village, they will showcase important information from the Parish Council, the Crawley Down Residents Association and local businesses and interested parties.
The project has been overseen by Councillor Thérèse Wilson, and we’d like to thank Thérèse for her exceptional efforts in bringing it to fruition. There were a number of obstacles that needed to be overcome, including the existence of uneven ground beneath the site itself, and the prevalence of underground cables, pipework and manhole covers.
The old notice boards had served the village well, but had become somewhat shabby and, ultimately, posed a safety risk. The original ash tree that had been in place also represented an issue due to ash dieback, a serious fungal condition. We’d like to acknowledge the work carried out by Acorn Workshop and Halsey Construction in building and siting the new installation.
The new boards are made from sturdy English oak, and thanks to their design and construction they are expected to last at least 25 years. Arranged in an attractive, eye-catching style, they offer one board each for Worth Parish Council and Crawley Down Residents Association, and four for general village notices.
Our images feature Councillor Thérèse Wilson, of course, as well as Councillors Sue Kipps, Clare Pointer, Kerry Scott and Liz Williams.
