Improving accessibility in Crawley Down

Published: 17 July 2025

The Parish Council is currently exploring several options to improve safety and accessibility in Crawley Down. One of these is a proposal to improve the pedestrian crossing point outside the shops on Station Road. This location is frequently used by residents and visitors, but currently vehicles often park across the dropped kerb, making it difficult for people—especially those using wheelchairs, pushchairs, or mobility aids—to cross safely.
We are now preparing to submit an application to West Sussex County Council’s Community Highway Scheme to request that this project be delivered. The proposal involves installing a build out with bollards to clearly mark the crossing, prevent parking in the crossing area and improve pedestrian safety. This is just one of the projects being considered for Crawley Down, but this scheme is ready to move forward for application at this time. We are asking for your feedback and support to help us demonstrate community backing when we submit the application.
You can respond by completing the online form, telephoning the office on 01342 713407 or emailing us at enquiries@worth-pc.gov.uk. Please be aware that comments left on this post will not be accepted as a valid response to the consultation. The survey closes at midnight on Sunday 27th July.
