Tree Dedications in Crawley Down
Published: 13 November 2025
On Friday November 7th, a small ceremony was held in Crawley Down, to commemorate two oak trees on the Village Green.
Councillor Phillip Coote planted the trees in 2023 from acorns that were cultivated by him personally. The trees are a commemoration to the lives and legacies of HRH Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022) and HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh (1921-2021).
With help from our Grounds Team, plaques have been made and are located on posts, made appropriately from oak, in honour of this occasion. If your child is interested, these are perfect for tracing the image of an oak tree.
Oak trees usually have a lifespan of between 300 and 600 years, so hopefully these will be a wonderful asset to the village for a very long time to come.
