Copthorne Rec Update

Published: 28 April 2026

We are pleased to confirm contracts have now been signed for the civil engineering works and the new playground installation at Copthorne Recreation Ground.

• Warwick Landscaping Limited is scheduled to begin work on Monday 27 April on the civil engineering package. This phase will include drainage, the car park, paths and construction of the playground base and is programmed to take approximately ten weeks.

• Proludic Limited is scheduled to commence the playground installation on Monday 6 July. The installation of equipment and safety surfacing is planned to be completed and certified as ready for use by Friday 14 August.

• A contract for the Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) at the rear of the site is currently being finalised. Work is expected to start at the beginning of September so that construction can be completed ahead of winter.

The playground layout has been reduced very slightly on the western edge and the revised playground layout is attached. This will enable the playground to be completed and brought into use before the MUGA is constructed as lorry access to the rear of the site will still be possible.

With two of the key contracts now in place the project is moving into the delivery phase.
